Not veterinary advice
Nobody here is your vet, and no vet reviews these posts. Community experience is genuinely useful for working out whether something is worth worrying about - but if your animal is unwell, in pain, or has stopped eating or drinking, call a vet rather than waiting for a reply.
Can I give him anything for car sickness
Drools, then shakes, then it goes badly, every single journey over about ten minutes. We have tried the window open, facing forward, an empty stomach, all of it. We have a four hour drive in three weeks and I am dreading it.

Vet suggested a dental and I am nervous about the anaesthetic
She is nine, otherwise healthy, and they want to do a scale and polish under general. I know her teeth are bad. I also know she is nine and I have read too much. Has anyone been through this with an older cat and come out the other side ok?

Kitten sneezing for two days, no other signs
Eating, playing, normal litter tray, just sneezing several times an hour. Twelve weeks old, second vaccination is next week anyway. Ring now or mention it at the appointment?

Lump that moves under the skin
Found it while brushing him. Soft, about pea sized, slides around under the skin rather than feeling stuck. He doesn't react when I touch it. Appointment is Thursday. Not asking anyone to diagnose it, just wondering what the usual process is so I know what to expect.

What is a normal amount of water for a cat to drink
She is on dry food and I never see her at the bowl, but the level does go down. I have no sense of whether this is fine or whether I should be measuring something.

Senior bloodwork came back fine but she seems slower
Thirteen, bloods clear, vet happy. She still takes the stairs one at a time now and sleeps through things she used to bark at. I know thirteen is thirteen. Just feels like something.

Nails clicking on the floor, how short is too short
I can hear him coming down the hall. I have the clippers, I have watched the videos, and I am still scared of the quick.

Dog ate a small bit of bread dough, when do I worry
Raw dough, about the size of a walnut, maybe twenty minutes ago. He's a 24kg lab. He seems completely normal. I've already rung the out of hours line and they are calling me back. Posting mostly because I am pacing.

How often do you actually need to do teeth
Everyone says brush daily. Nobody I know brushes daily. What is the realistic minimum that still does something useful?

Is it worth insuring an eight year old dog
Never insured him, which I know some of you will wince at. Quotes now are steep and exclude a couple of things he has already had. Is there a point where you are better off putting the money in a savings account instead?

Flea treatment timing when you have both a cat and a dog
Dog is monthly, cat is every three months, and I have lost track of which is due when. Also the dog's one is not safe for cats, which I only found out this year.
