What is a normal amount of water for a cat to drink

She is on dry food and I never see her at the bowl, but the level does go down. I have no sense of whether this is fine or whether I should be measuring something.

Not veterinary advice

Nobody here is your vet, and no vet reviews these posts. Community experience is genuinely useful for working out whether something is worth worrying about - but if your animal is unwell, in pain, or has stopped eating or drinking, call a vet rather than waiting for a reply.

Cats on dry food do drink more than cats on wet, and a lot of them drink when nobody is looking. The thing worth noticing is a change rather than an absolute number. If she suddenly drinks a lot more than usual, that's the one to mention.

Change rather than amount. That's a much easier thing to watch for, thanks.
