Lump that moves under the skin

Found it while brushing him. Soft, about pea sized, slides around under the skin rather than feeling stuck. He doesn't react when I touch it. Appointment is Thursday. Not asking anyone to diagnose it, just wondering what the usual process is so I know what to expect.

Not veterinary advice

Nobody here is your vet, and no vet reviews these posts. Community experience is genuinely useful for working out whether something is worth worrying about - but if your animal is unwell, in pain, or has stopped eating or drinking, call a vet rather than waiting for a reply.

Usually they'll feel it, measure it, and often take a fine needle sample there and then. It's quick and most dogs barely notice. That sample is what actually answers the question, so try not to spiral before Thursday.

Take a photo with something for scale next to it. Handy for comparing later and vets appreciate it.
