Is grain free actually necessary

Every shelf in the shop is grain free now and it's all about 30 percent more expensive. My dog has never shown any sign of a grain problem. Am I paying for something I don't need?

If your dog has no issue with grains then no, you don't need it. True grain allergies are much rarer than the marketing suggests.

Worth knowing that grain free usually means more legumes instead, so you are not removing carbs, you are swapping which ones.

Mine genuinely does better without wheat, but that took an elimination trial with the vet to establish, not a guess in an aisle.

That's what I suspected. Back to the normal bag then.

The price gap is the bit that annoys me. Same ingredient cost, very different shelf price.
