How long should a food transition actually take

Bag says seven days. A friend says two weeks. Last time I did five and he was fine, but he has a cast iron stomach so that proves nothing.

Seven to ten is the usual advice and it works for most dogs. If yours has ever had an upset stomach, stretch it to two weeks and nothing bad happens by going slow.

Cats generally need longer than dogs in my experience. Mine took three weeks and I still got a couple of grim mornings.
