He is obsessed with the cat's food

Will ignore his own dinner entirely if there is the faintest chance of getting at hers. Cat food lives on the counter now, which the cat hates and I hate.

Cat food is higher in protein and fat so it genuinely does taste better to them. It's not a personal failing on your dog's part.

We put the cat's bowl on top of a bookshelf with a chair as a step. Cat is pleased with herself about it, dog has given up.
